Industrial photography of the Kamensk-Uralsky Metallurgical Works
The Kamensk-Uralsky Metallurgical Plant is a special metallurgical enterprise that produces parts for the aircraft, ship and automotive industries.
The Kamensk-Uralsky Metallurgical Plant (KUMZ OJSC) supplies aluminum and magnesium components not only to Russian plants but also exports products to 46 countries from Brazil to Australia. KUMZ is also a city-forming enterprise in Kamensk-Uralsk, the third most populated city in the Sverdlovsk Region.
In February 2018, the Line Artworks team went to Kamensk-Uralsk for the first time to photograph the new rolling mill. The plans were to update the company’s photo bank, and prepare the material for an advertising campaign in Russian and international specialized editions.
In four days of photography, we saw 40,000 sq.m. of KUMZ production area, captured the main stages of the workflow, and take photos of the key employees of the company. After returning to St. Petersburg, the Line Artworks team started creating advertising modules. In the advertisement campaign, we showed how KUMZ products were used in various industries.
To reduce the budget of the project and decrease the time needed for its implementation, our designers used the digital-compositing technology. This means that we collected into a single composition photos taken by Line Artworks and specially selected images from the production of an airplane, a train, and a car.
As a result, we were able to provide for OJSC KUMZ image-building photographic materials without extra cost and after just a single trip to the photography site, and come up with an interesting advertising campaign based on them. Read about how we photographed other Russian industrial giants in the cases with Severstal, Gazprom, and the Almaz-Antey holding.
