Industrial photography of PJSC Polyus

Polyus is a Russian gold mining company. It is one of the largest companies in the world and the largest in Russia in terms of production.

PJSC Polyus

Polyus develops ore and alluvial deposits in the Magadan and Irkutsk Regions, in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), and in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Companies of the group include Polyus Krasnoyarsk, Polyus Magadan, Polyus Verninskoye, Lenzoloto gold-mining company, Polyus Aldan, Polyus Sukhoi Log, Polyus Logistika, Polyus Stroy, Polyus Project, and MPSC Polyus LLC. The most significant asset is located in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. This is the Olimpiada deposit.

The studio has implemented numerous successful projects for gold miners. In 2017, we created a photo bank for the Polyus company. However, in 2021, the scale and geography of industrial photography project at PJSC Polyus have become much wider. This time, we worked at the four largest companies of the group: Polyus Krasnoyarsk, Polyus Magadan, Polyus Verninskoye, and Polyus Aldan.

Large-scale industrial photography involves shooting the entire infrastructure of an enterprise: people, buildings, landscapes, and products. At PJSC Polyus, we photographed the interiors and exteriors of factories, quarries, equipment, and employees.

We filmed general views of quarries and made macro shots of ingots, took portraits of workers and photographed dump trucks. It seems that not a single facet of the company’s production life escaped our attention.

More than 20,000 people work at Polyus enterprises. To convey the spirit and the nature of the company, we took several hundred image-building portraits, many of which, after processing, were used to replenish the company’s photo bank. Shotsmen and machinists, smelters and operators were in the focus.

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, we performed industrial photography at Blagodatny and at the Olympiada fields. These fields are located 550 km to the North from Krasnoyarsk. Over 70% of all gold produced by the Polyus group of companies is mined here. At the Olympiada alone, 14 million tons of ore are mined annually. Photographs of the Natalka open pit were taken in the Magadan region, where 11.4 million tons of ore are mined. Photographers of the Studio also visited the Verninsky quarry in the famous Bodaibo district. This is one of the youngest fields, so there is the highest recovery factor of 90% here.

We also performed industrial photography of one of the most deserved deposits, the Kuranakh ore field. The Kuranakh open pit is located in the Aldan region of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

We photographed quarries, processing factories, and logistics hubs. Performed industrial photography of the mining and processing process, gold casting and shipping. We filmed drilling rigs, excavators, bulldozers and, of course, dump trucks.

The large-scale project of industrial photography of PJSC Polyus lasted several months and successfully ended with a new up-to-date section of the company’s photo bank.

The Studio’s portfolio also contains several successful projects in corporate photography of gold mining enterprises. For example, we took photos of the Varvarinsky and the Amursky hubs of Polymetal company, prepared design and printout for NordGold company.
