PHOTOS OF THE POLYMETAL COMPANY IN KAZAKHSTAN
Polymetal is one of the leading gold miners in the world. It is in the world top 10 gold mining companies.
The company includes nine gold and silver deposits. Polymetal organizes precious metal mining and processing through a hub system, which makes production cost-effective and efficient at small deposits and reduces the logistics costs. In Kazakhstan, the company is developing several fields that are part of the Varvarino hub and the Kyzyl project. The Varvarino hub of the Polymetal group is located in Kazakhstan in the Kostanay region. The hub includes the Varvarino and Komarovkskoye deposits and a gold ore leaching facility. The end products of the hub are Dore bead and gold and copper concentrates. The deposit is located only 4 km from the Russian border, 15 km from the railroad to Bataly and 65 km from the railroad to Tobol.
The Varvarino field was acquired by Polymetal in 2009. The quarry and the factory were upgraded for development. In 2016, Polymetal included the Komarovskoye field in the hub. In June 2021, the Studio was invited to Kazakhstan for image-building industrial photography of the Varvarino hub.
The studio has many successful projects in the photography of gold mining enterprises. For example, we have already prepared a photo bank for the Polyus company; we have done design and printing for the Nordgold company. We performed industrial photography of the Amursky hub for Polymetal.
For the photographers of the Studio, getting to Polymetal’s facilities is always an adventure itself. This time we made several transshipments heading to Nur-Sultan, then we flew to Kostanay, and drove to settlement Rudny, right on the bank of the Tobol River. After completing the work, we returned through Chelyabinsk.
Within a week, we photographed the quarry, the Komarovskoye deposit, the processing factory, and the company’s railway line. We photographed the process of gold mining, processing, casting and shipment. We photographed equipment and people.
We prepared large-scale photographs: panoramic views of the quarry and the railway. We showed the dynamics of production processes: for example, we captured how ore is poured from railroad cars or how alloy is poured into molds. We showed the link between specialists and equipment: we took photographs of people against the backdrop of giant Caterpillars and other mining machines.
Designers and retouchers of the Studio processed industrial photography materials and prepared them for the website and the company’s image-building portfolio.
